Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of RetroRelay at www.playretrorelay.com, including our browser games, leaderboards, community features, and optional RetroRelay Plus subscription ("Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use RetroRelay. If you are under 18, you represent that you have permission from a parent or guardian. The Service is offered for personal, non-commercial entertainment unless we agree otherwise in writing.

2. Accounts

  • You may play some features as a guest; an account is required for persistent profiles, Plus subscriptions, and certain community actions.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account.
  • Usernames must be unique, not impersonate others, and comply with our acceptable-use rules below.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or harm the community.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Cheat, exploit bugs, automate play, or submit fraudulent scores
  • Use offensive, hateful, or misleading display names or forum content
  • Harass, threaten, or spam other users
  • Scrape, crawl, reverse-engineer, decompile, or redistribute our games or platform code except as allowed by law
  • Attempt to disrupt the Service (DDoS, unauthorized access, malware)
  • Use the Service for unlawful purposes or to infringe others' rights

We may remove content, reset scores, or ban accounts at our discretion to protect fair play and the community.

4. Intellectual Property

RetroRelay, its logos, site design, game code, art, audio, and written content are owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright and other laws. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and play the games through your browser for personal use only.

Our games are independent works inspired by classic game mechanics. We do not claim affiliation with third-party trademarks. See About and Credits for more information.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of content you submit (forum posts, display names, etc.). By posting, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and moderate that content on the Service. You represent that you have the right to post it and that it does not violate these Terms or any law.

6. Leaderboards and Virtual Items

Scores, badges, ranks, and similar features have no real-world monetary value and are not transferable. We may adjust, reset, or remove them when fixing bugs, addressing cheating, or balancing gameplay.

7. RetroRelay Plus Subscriptions

  • Plus is an optional paid subscription that removes on-site display ads and may include other perks described on the pricing page.
  • Billing is handled by Stripe on a recurring monthly basis until canceled.
  • To cancel, contact hello@playretrorelay.com or use any self-service billing link we provide in the future. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless otherwise stated.
  • Refunds are handled according to Stripe policies and applicable law. We do not guarantee refunds for partial billing periods except where required.
  • We may change Plus pricing or features with reasonable notice; continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates third parties including Google AdSense (ads), Stripe (payments), Supabase (auth and data), and Discord (community). Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies. See our Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE AND GAMES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RETRORELAY AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless RetroRelay and its operators from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your user content, or your violation of these Terms.

12. Changes and Termination

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may update these Terms by posting a new version with an updated date. Material changes may be announced on the site or by email where appropriate. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may terminate or restrict access if you breach these Terms or for operational reasons.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country require otherwise.
