Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

RetroRelay ("we", "us", "our") operates www.playretrorelay.com and related browser games. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using RetroRelay, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide

  • Account data — if you register, we store your email address and username through our authentication provider (Supabase). Passwords are handled by the auth provider; we do not store plain-text passwords.
  • Gameplay data — scores, display names on leaderboards, badge progress, weekly challenge submissions, and optional metadata attached to score entries (for example achievement flags).
  • Community content — forum posts, replies, and votes if you use the community features.
  • Support messages — information you send when contacting us by email or Discord.

1.2 Information collected automatically

  • Technical data — browser type, device type, general location (country/region inferred from IP), pages visited, and referring URLs. Our hosting and infrastructure providers may log standard server access data.
  • Local storage — guest display names and lightweight preferences may be stored in your browser's localStorage so you do not have to re-enter them each visit.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 4 below.

1.3 Payment information

If you subscribe to RetroRelay Plus, payment is processed by Stripe. We receive subscription status (for example whether your account is active) and a Stripe customer identifier. We do not receive or store your full card number on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Operate games, leaderboards, badges, and weekly challenges
  • Create and manage your account and Plus subscription status
  • Display community posts and moderate abuse
  • Send optional notifications (for example high-score alerts to Discord when configured)
  • Improve the platform, fix bugs, and prevent cheating or fraud
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. How We Share Information

We may share information with:

  • Service providers who help us run RetroRelay, including hosting (Vercel), database and authentication (Supabase), and payments (Stripe). They process data only to provide services to us.
  • Other players — leaderboard display names, public profile pages, forum posts, and shared score cards are visible to other users by design.
  • Legal requirements — when required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

4. Cookies, Ads, and Analytics

4.1 Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements to users who are not subscribed to RetroRelay Plus. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads, measure performance, and personalize content where permitted by law.

Plus subscribers do not see on-site display ads managed through our ad components. You can learn more about how Google uses data at Google's Advertising Policies and opt out of personalized advertising via Google Ads Settings.

4.2 Essential cookies

Authentication sessions and security-related cookies may be set when you sign in. These are necessary for account features to work.

4.3 Your choices

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking cookies may affect sign-in, leaderboards, or ad delivery. Browser "Do Not Track" signals are not uniformly supported; we do not respond to DNT signals at this time.

5. Data Retention

We keep account and gameplay data while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Leaderboard entries and forum posts may remain visible after account deletion unless we are required to remove them. Server logs are retained for a limited period for security and debugging. You may request deletion of your account by contacting us.

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures including HTTPS, access controls, and reputable third-party providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

RetroRelay is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. International Users

RetroRelay is operated from China. If you access the service from other regions, your information may be processed in countries where our providers operate (including the United States and the European Union). By using the service, you consent to such transfers as permitted by applicable law.

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, email hello@playretrorelay.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the revised policy.

11. Contact
